Kit Requirements:

In summary you will need:
• All weapons: 350 N Uniform with 800N under plastrons.
• Size 2 (Sabre) and Size 3 (foil) weapons: In the latter stages of the competition weapons will be weighted and gauge checked.
• Masks All masks must be in good condition inc. elastic and safe. The two rear safety system is not required for this competition.
• Sabre: Sabre lame and mask. 800N glove and mask wire.
• Foil: Foil lame is required, mask with a conductive bib is not required. Fencers wearing a chest protector don’t need the padded covering for that item for this competition.
• Referees will check plastron, glove and mask on piste.
• All other kit must be safe and not have holes in it.
It is NOT a requirement to have your name and country displayed on the back of your lame or jacket.
Youth York Open 2026
U14 foil, épée and sabre U14 ‘B’ BRC competition. Open to all U14s, whether you are chasing GBR ranking points or entering your first competition - everyone is welcome!
Following on from the success of the first of the new York Open competition, we are proud to be able to offer a competition for younger fencers. The competition is on Saturday 24th October 2026 at the York Railway Institute.

The Youth York Open 2026 is open to fencers born 2013 and later, but must be aged 10 years and over on the day of the event and using size 3 foil weapon or size 2 Epee or Sabre weapons.
